Chinese President Xi Jinping stated Hong Kong authorities “should mobilise all forces and resources that can be mobilised, take all needed procedures and safeguard Hong Kong individuals’s lives and health”, to manage the 5th wave of Covid-19 infections in the city. Xi’s remarks, released by regional pro-Beijing media on February 16, 2022, came as the city reported a record 4,285 brand-new day-to-day infections. Health centers are at complete capability, requiring clients waiting on seclusion beds to be taken into outside parking lot.
