Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) submitted a suit Friday versus the Biden administration for buying the state to stop designating federal COVID relief funds to schools that do not adhere to public health suggestions such as masking, the Arizona Republic reports
Why it matters: The Treasury Department stated recently that the state would need to repay the cash if Ducey does not redesignate the $173 million programs to guarantee they do not “weaken efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19”
What he’s stating: In the grievance, Ducey argues that Treasury violated in making its last guideline, which restricts Ducey’s program from getting approved for financing.
- Ducey is asking the judge to reverse the whole guideline.
- ” The Governor’s Office will not get rid of or alter the (education) programs to comply with Treasury’s illegal determines,” the suit states, per the Republic.
