The pace of coronavirus vaccinations in the US is on the decline, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data released Thursday.
The average rate at which shots were being administered had been greater than 3 million per day for most of April, CNN reported, citing CDC data.
A peak of 3.4 million doses was recorded on April 13.
However, for the first time in more than two weeks, the seven-day average of new doses being administered has dropped below 3 million per day, the CDC recorded.
About 41 percent of the population – or 135,791,031 people – have received at least one dose, while 89,245,776 people were fully vaccinated as of Thursday.
Experts have estimated that between 70 percent to 90 percent of the population will need to be vaccinated to reach herd immunity.
