Why it Matters
In the past, news network commentators hailed Cuomo as a capable and honest leader at a time when his state was the one most impacted by COVID-19
Cuomo promoted his own administration’s transparency during the pandemic in his October 2020 bestselling book, American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic
Nevertheless, now that Trump is out of office, it’s ending up being evident that Cuomo might not have been as transparent as he declared.
The Counterpoint
On March 6, 2020, Trump publicly discussed a Grand Princess cruise liner on which 35 people reported flu-like signs. Worried that they and other travelers might be contaminated with COVID-19, the city of San Francisco battled with whether to let the ship’s passengers disembark.
At the time, Trump stated he would rather have the people stay on board.
“[San Francisco] would like to have the people come off. I ‘d rather have the people stay, but I go with them. I informed them to make the decision,” Trump stated. “I would rather since I like the numbers being where they are. I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault.”
Trump added that he didn’t think about the illness to be the fault of individuals on board either.
” I can live in either case with it.” he concluded. “I ‘d rather have them stay on, personally, but I fully understand if they wish to take them off.”
Many surveys leading up to Election Day and analyses because have concluded that Trump’s mishandling of the pandemic cost him a second term. Numerous citizens cited the pandemic as their top concern. Furthermore, prior to the election, two of the country’s earliest medical journals slammed his response and stated he should be voted out for it
A current survey revealed that 55 percent of Cuomo’s constituents do not believe he must resign as he faces the assisted living home scandal and unwanted sexual advances accusations If the scandals aggravate, Cuomo might discover himself losing reelection like Trump once he is back on the ballot in 2022.
Newsweek contacted Cuomo’s office for remark.
