World of the People dares to state what no one will-that we are losing the fight to stop environment modification because we are following leaders who have taken us down the incorrect road-selling out the green movement to rich interests and corporate America. This film is the wake-up call to the truth we are afraid to face: that in the middle of a human-caused termination event, the ecological movement’s response is to push for techno-fixes and band-aids. It’s insufficient, too late. Eliminated from the debate is the only thing that MAY save us: getting a grip on our out-of-control human presence and usage. Why is this not THE concern? Since that would be bad for profits, bad for business. Have we ecologists succumbed to illusions, “green” impressions, that are anything but green, since we’re frightened that this is the end-and we’ve pinned all our hopes on solar panels and wind turbines? No quantity of batteries are going to conserve us, cautions director Jeff Gibbs (long-lasting ecologist and co-producer of Fahrenheit 9/11). This urgent, must-see film, a full-frontal assault on our spiritual cows, is ensured to produce anger, argument, and, ideally, a determination to see our survival in a new way-before it’s far too late.
