ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos consistently pressed Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller on Sunday early morning over President Donald Trump’s unwarranted claims that doctors “get more money” from coronavirus deaths, prompting Miller to back the president’s claims by pointing out “independent things pointing to that.”
Continuing to hammer away at his closing argument that the nation is ” rounding the corner” on the pandemic regardless of record-setting day-to-day infections, Trump accused American medical professionals of profiting from the crisis by intentionally overcounting coronavirus deaths during a project rally late recently.
” Our medical professionals get more cash if someone passes away from COVID. You understand that, right?” Trump exclaimed. “So what they do is, they say, ‘I’m sorry, however, you know, everybody passes away of COVID.’ In Germany and other locations, if you have a heart attack, or you have cancer, you’re terminally ill, you capture COVID, they say you died of cancer, you died of a heart attack. With us, when in doubt, select COVID.”
The evidence-free attack by the president was met with a scathing rebuke by the American Medical Association, who called Trump’s remarks “destructive, outrageous, and totally misdirected” while including that he “ought to be following the science and urging adherence to the general public health actions we understand work.”
Interviewing Miller on Sunday’s broadcast of ABC’s This Week, Stephanopoulos evaluated the president’s inflammatory remarks– which likewise included Trump baselessly asserting doctors get “like $2,000 more” for COVID diagnoses– before confronting the Trump adviser with the AMA’s reaction.
” Why does the president consistently attack medical professionals on the cutting edge saying they are inflating COVID numbers?” Stephanopoulos questioned aloud.
” I don’t believe he was assaulting anybody at all,” Miller insisted. “I think he was speaking about how most Americans wish to securely and securely re-open the country. Return to work, get back to life as typical.”
The ABC anchor rapidly fired back, mentioning that “we all simply saw it” which Trump was directly talking about medical professionals pumping up the variety of coronavirus deaths for money.
” George, I’m not going to get into the billing aspects of which there have actually been numerous reports on, there have been all sorts of independent things pointing to that,” Miller reacted. “The truth of the matter is individuals want their life back to typical. They’re tired of the lockdowns. Look at Democrat-run states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin. Individuals are tired of the lockdowns.”
” You’re duplicating that,” Stephanopoulus shot back. “You think physicians are inflating COVID deaths for cash?”
Miller, on the other hand, when again declared– without evidence– that there are a “number of reports raised out there” that reveal are physicians overcounting deaths for earnings.
In a subsequent interview with Stephanopoulos, Biden campaign adviser Anita Dunn stated she was “astonished” that Miller would not safeguard the doctors who are on the frontlines fighting the pandemic.
” It tells you everything you need to know about the difference in between the Trump campaign and the Biden project and between Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” she included. “Joe Biden respects the frontline employees. He appreciates doctors. He appreciates Dr. Fauci. He listens to the scientists.”
