ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos repeatedly pushed Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller on Sunday early morning over President Donald Trump’s unwarranted claims that medical professionals “get more cash” from coronavirus deaths, prompting Miller to back the president’s claims by mentioning “independent things indicating that.”

Continuing to hammer away at his closing argument that the country is ” rounding the corner” on the pandemic in spite of record-setting daily infections, Trump accused American doctors of benefiting from the crisis by intentionally overcounting coronavirus deaths during a project rally late recently.

” Our medical professionals get more money if somebody dies from COVID. You understand that, right?” Trump exclaimed. “So what they do is, they say, ‘I’m sorry, however, you understand, everybody passes away of COVID.’ In Germany and other locations, if you have a heart attack, or you have cancer, you’re terminally ill, you capture COVID, they say you died of cancer, you passed away of a heart attack. With us, when in doubt, select COVID.”

The evidence-free attack by the president was met a scathing rebuke by the American Medical Association, who called Trump’s remarks “harmful, outrageous, and completely misguided” while including that he “needs to be following the science and advising adherence to the public health steps we know work.”

Interviewing Miller on Sunday’s broadcast of ABC’s Today, Stephanopoulos summarized the president’s inflammatory comments– which also included Trump baselessly asserting physicians get “like $2,000 more” for COVID medical diagnoses– before facing the Trump adviser with the AMA’s action.

” Why does the president repeatedly attack doctors on the cutting edge saying they are inflating COVID numbers?” Stephanopoulos questioned aloud.

” I do not think he was attacking anybody at all,” Miller insisted. “I believe he was speaking about how most Americans want to safely and firmly re-open the nation. Return to work, get back to life as typical.”

The ABC anchor quickly fired back, mentioning that “we all simply saw it” which Trump was straight talking about physicians inflating the variety of coronavirus deaths for cash.

” George, I’m not going to get into the billing elements of which there have been numerous reports on, there have been all sorts of independent things pointing to that,” Miller responded. “The reality of the matter is individuals want their life back to normal. They’re tired of the lockdowns. Take a look at Democrat-run states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin. People are tired of the lockdowns.”

” You’re repeating that,” Stephanopoulus shot back. “You think physicians are pumping up COVID deaths for money?”

Miller, on the other hand, as soon as again claimed– without evidence– that there are a “variety of reports raised out there” that show are physicians overcounting deaths for profit.

In a subsequent interview with Stephanopoulos, Biden project advisor Anita Dunn said she was “astonished” that Miller wouldn’t safeguard the doctors who are on the frontlines fighting the pandemic.

” It tells you everything you require to know about the difference between the Trump project and the Biden campaign and between Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” she added. “Joe Biden respects the frontline employees. He respects doctors. He respects Dr. Fauci. He listens to the researchers.”
