Bhubaneshwar: Odisha federal government on Saturday sealed the office of the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha member Aparajita Sarangi for 15 days for alleged offense of Covid-19 norms.

The federal government’s move came a day after Odisha home minister Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra wrote a letter to the Union minister of state for house, Nityanand Rai, advising him to do something about it versus Ms Sarangi for commemorating her birthday with her advocates neglecting the Covid guidelines.

” We sealed the office of the MP Aparajita Sarangi for breaking 3 Covid-19 guidelines. She breached standards like social distancing, mass congregation and mask wearing. We have asked the MP to give a list of people who existed with her in the birthday celebration. We will perform their Covid test. The workplace will be sanitised prior to the next usage,” stated Rabinarayan Jethi, Zonal Deputy Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Explaining the state government action as vindictive, the legislator said she was being targeted because of her consistent engagement with individuals of the constituency.

Infuriated over the federal government action, an upset Aparajita hurriedly called a press conference where she produced 14 photos showing offenses of Covid-19 constraints by a number of BJD legislators and at their party workplace and public rallies. She attempted chief minister Naveen Patnaik to take similar actions against his celebration’s legislators and seal the ruling BJD celebration office.

” I do confess that on October 8 last, some ladies required me to celebrate my birthday for a few minutes at my office. The government has vindictively sealed my office. I will compose a letter to chief minister Naveen Patnaik and connect all these 14 photos to him advising him to seal his own celebration office and actions versus the lawbreakers.
