Earl Thomas was all set to go to the Houston Texans when a rash of favorable COVID-19 tests in other places put his work audition on hold.
Instead of working out for the team in Houston, Thomas’ conference was canceled as a result of what Texans coach Costs O’Brien called “a special couple of days.”
” The other day, early in the morning we got a phone call from the league relative to Minnesota and Tennessee, what was going on there with those two groups,” O’Brien stated.
With the league carrying out a strict protocol for player visits and workouts amid the ongoing pandemic, prospective additions do not just merely fly in, exercise and fly out anymore. They must test and separate, needing the aforementioned hotel stay, prior to they can audition.
It was revealed that four Titans gamers and five Titans personnel members checked favorable for COVID-19, and as a result, both the Titans and the Vikings (the group Tennessee bet Sunday) shut down facilities while carrying out contact tracing and additional testing. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell urged all groups to consider their technique for hosting players for tryouts in a memo reacting to the news of the positive COVID-19 tests.
That is why Thomas has yet to exercise with the Texans as expected, not anything that pertains to Thomas’ ability or character, O’Brien said.
” Earl Thomas is a hell of a gamer, he’s had a terrific profession,” the coach continued. “Again, we had a lot of people in and we decided to cancel.
Houston would have been Thomas’ very first official exercise with an interested team given that he was launched by the Ravens for conduct detrimental to the group in August.
