Covid 19 coronavirus NSW: 5th day without neighborhood transmission

4 new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in New South Wales up to 8pm on Tuesday, but zero neighborhood transmission.

Wednesday marks the fifth day in a row of no neighborhood transmission in the state– though Premier Gladys Berejiklian has alerted the run will not last permanently.

There were 13,575 tests reported over the 24- hour period, compared with just 6381 in the previous 24 hours.

Regardless of her wariness over the lack of community transmission, the Premier acknowledged NSW was in a great position to begin continuing peaceful restrictions.

She informed press reporters on Wednesday the Federal government would think about relieving some guidelines around hospitality after the school vacations.

“Our focus is on NSW– it’s about ensuring we’re doing as much as we can to support our economy, to support jobs,” she stated.

“We’re taking a look at chances in hospitality. Sydney has been totally smashed. The regions have a real chance for positive development, however Sydney itself has been smashed in hospitality and tourist.”

Berejiklian stated although she was cautious, she was “extremely bold” when it concerned tasks– offered health recommendations deemed it proper.

The Premier took a strong stance versus Queensland also, calling for the border controls to come down “as quickly as possible”.

“I don’t feel the border is appropriate, and must not remain in place,” she said.

“You can’t evaluate your own system [of protections against the virus] if you can’t even be troubled taking the border off.”

But she stated she was wary of a Victorian border opening up until she sees how the state fares as soon as Melbourne’s lockdown has actually been lifted.

“It’s something to have near absolutely no cases when you have actually got restrictions in place and a lockdown in location, and another thing to see what takes place as soon as those constraints ease.”

Kevin Mack, the mayor of the border city of Albury, told the Herald Sun on Tuesday that he’s enthusiastic of an end-of-October opening, but the Premier wouldn’t dedicate to a timeline.

“We would require confidence that Victoria has the ability to preserve a sensible amount of cases after limitations ease”, Berejiklian stated.
