PRESS RELEASE

COUNTY OF SIMCOE

Since (Sunday) morning, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (Health Unit) has actually validated that our break out remains at four (4) personnel and 4 (4) resident COVID-19 favorable cases at Simcoe Manor. A total of three (3) resident care units remain impacted by positive cases at this time.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of two of our homeowners (one late the other day night and one early this morning). Among the individuals had tested favorable for COVID-19, and t he other was tested on Friday, with their outcomes pending. Our heartfelt condolences are with the liked ones of the two locals we lost last night and this morning.

All long-lasting care citizens have actually been tested and we continue to carefully keep track of for their outcomes. All staff are being checked tomorrow, Monday October 5, and improved screening measures stay in location to ensure immediate symptom recognition, testing, seclusion and proper contact tracing are completed, in collaboration with the Health System. Extensive procedures stay in place to stop the spread within our house rapidly; some of these preventative measures consist of:

  • Temporary cancellation of all Indoor/outdoor check outs while we await further testing outcomes and direction from the Health Unit, with the exception of important visitors;-LRB- .
  • Increased security and monitoring for signs of all locals;-LRB- .
  • Improved cleansing steps;-LRB- .
  • Advanced screening;-LRB- .
  • Cohorting staff to individual units throughout each shift;-LRB- .
  • Momentary hold on all brand-new resident admissions and internal transfers;-LRB- .
  • Extra requirement of all staff to wear complete PPE (gloves, dress, mask, face guard) upon getting in the resident care units. We are sourcing extra PPE materials to make sure materials are constantly offered during this break out; and
  • All citizens are isolated in their spaces for precautionary reasons, with tray service for meals. Use of non reusable plates, cups and flatware throughout of this outbreak to provide extra infection control security.

Though this infection has calmly made its way into our House, we will combat harder than ever to stop it as quickly as we possibly can. Be assured that we are all doing everything possible and we will get ahead of this.

We continue to keep everybody directly affected by this infection at Simcoe Manor in our ideas and are extending heartfelt want the best possible result.

Thank you to member of the family of our homeowners for your understanding and patience. Also thank you to our incredible staff for their continued commitment – those in long term care, in addition to our redeployed staff members, Paramedics and those helping with the action.

The surrounding Simcoe Town is not in break out.
