I’m grateful for the substantial input we have gotten to resolve the problem of recovering much better from the Covid-19 pandemic. Particular thanks go to the Deputy Secretary General, Canada and Jamaica for leading this process, and to our co-leads Rwanda, Fiji and the EU for your excellent collaboration.

The pandemic has painfully exposed our vulnerabilities. Whilst we remain dedicated to tackling its instant effects, we should also seize this opportunity to produce greener, healthier, more inclusive and resistant economies and societies, and to accelerate development towards the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement.

The UK has actually been proud to co-lead the Recuperating Much better for Sustainability discussion group. From federal governments to the economic sector to civil society, we are all responsible and need to collaborate in the spirit of global uniformity, to drive the changes we want to see.

From the numerous policy ideas suggested to us, we have actually prioritised truly transformational actions. I would like to utilize this opportunity to recognize a few of our key priorities.

We need a healing that allows climate-resilient growth, secures our biodiversity and promotes sustainable ways of living.

It is more vital now than ever before that we also prioritise structure strong and resistant health systems, underpinned by universal health coverage, that deliver better health for everybody and are resilient to risks. The UK is supporting nations to do this by attending to both the direct and indirect effects of the pandemic, having actually already committed ₤774 m to dealing with COVID-19

We have championed an inclusive recovery, worrying support for the most susceptible to construct fairer societies and ensure nobody is left. Ladies’ education is an important component of this work with the UK currently working to ensure ladies and susceptible children continue to find out whilst schools are closed and are supported to securely return to school and catch-up on lost knowing.

These are a few of our essential top priorities, however I urge you to evaluate the suggestions completely as we owe it to future generations to build back much better and accelerate development in this Years of Action.

The UK will continue to drive forward this aspiration through our presidencies of COP26 and the G7 next year. We are relying on your support to devote to and provide the cumulative action needed for a worldwide recovery.

I look forward to continuing to deal with all of you to put these ambitions in to practice.
