Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison will be banned from getting in Queensland for the duration of the state election campaign unless he is prepared to pay A$2800($3046) to quarantine for 14 days in a government facility.

Nearly 7 weeks after he last went into the sunshine state, there is no sign that the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will lift the border prohibits before the October 31 election.

Queensland’s border restriction will successfully stop the Prime Minister, Labor leader Anthony Albanese and any other frontbenchers from getting in the state throughout of the election unless they are prepared to spend a fortnight in quarantine.

It follows an awful war of words in between the Prime Minister and the Queensland Premier over the plight of challenge cases including a young woman who was not able to attend her daddy’s funeral.

Last week, the Queensland Premier hit back at the Prime Minister, accusing him of “bullying” her to intervene when it comes to a lady who was unable to attend her daddy’s funeral service.

“I will not be bullied nor will I be daunted by the Prime Minister of this country who called me today and who I made [it] extremely clear to, the fact that it is not my decision,” she stated.

“The Prime Minister at the time stated to me that he had not gone public, however Mr Speaker, I understood that he would go public.

“To use the catastrophe of this individual family is revolting.”

Both leaders have validated they have no plans to travel to Queensland while the difficult border constraints stay in place.

The present border closures, which forbid anybody from a “hotspot” location including Canberra pertaining to Queensland without a 14- day quarantine duration will be examined at the end of monthly.

The only alternative is to fly from Canberra to “Covid-free” Adelaide, which reopened the border to the ACT this week and spend a fortnight there, before travelling on to Brisbane.

According to Queensland Health Department standards, the border will stay shut to NSW, ACT and Victorian citizens unless there are 28 days without community transmission in those jurisdictions.

And while there is provision for MPs’ to enter the state to conduct their work, the requirement they complete a quarantine period is non-negotiable.

“( Elected agents) can enter Queensland from a declared Covid-19 hotspot, such as the ACT, to go back to their electorate or to carry out official responsibilities,” a Queensland Health spokesman stated. “They need to enter through air and will be needed to quarantine for 14 days from the date of arrival as per international quarantine requirements.”

Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young has previously defended the decision to state Canberra a hotspot regardless of the truth the country’s capital hasn’t had a case in months.

“Canberra is stated a hotspot since it is in the middle of NSW,” Dr Young stated, including that many individuals in Canberra have vacation homes on the NSW south coast where there have been cases more recently,” she stated.

In July, the Prime Minister unveiled a A$400 million ($435 m) package to attract worldwide blockbusters to movie in Australia on the Gold Coast.

Nevertheless, the Queensland opposition leader Deb Frecklington did not attend the occasion as she had a previous engagement.

“I let her know I was coming up here today, and she was pleased with the announcement we were making today for Queensland,” Morrison said.
