A ‘extensive programme’ of COVID-19 testing is to be presented at all Direct Provision centres across the country from tomorrow.
The Department of Justice and HSE say it’ll help to identify and isolate cases rapidly and will help them choose if additional assistances are required.
Evaluating is voluntary and complimentary, and each homeowner and team member will be provided a test.
Neither a rejection to participate nor a positive result will impact a person’s status or application for international defense.
Officials are also vowing that they’ll just comment on cases or outbreaks if there’s a public health factor to do so.
In a statement, the Department and HSE said: “We highly motivate all homeowners and staff to get involved to keep themselves, their families and their communities safe from coronavirus.
” Each homeowner and staff member will be provided a test. Children aged under 5 years and people who have actually previously checked positive for COVID-19 will not be tested.”
Figures released previously today showed there have been 292 cases of COVID-19 in direct arrangement centres.
