France’s 320,000 homecare employees will be approved Covid-19 benefits under a EUR160 million bundle unveiled by French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.
” These men and women were the forgotten among the Covid perk”, Macron said in the southern city of Toulon on Tuesday, describing benefits previously awarded to healthcare workers on the front line of the pandemic
Speaking before an audience of homecare employees, the president said the sum would permit those experts “to have the EUR1,000 benefit that the others received”.
Macron stated the French state would install EUR80 million and local governments the other half of the plan.
The statement comes two months after the government provided decrees enacting exceptional benefits of EUR1,000 to EUR1,500 for healthcare facility staff and retirement home employees.
Last month, unions registered to an offer giving over EUR8 billion in pay rises for health employees, with the federal government admitting the move was past due in view of the coronavirus pandemic.
The bulk of the plan consists of EUR7.5 billion in pay boosts for nurses and careworkers, who will get an average monthly raise of EUR183
There is likewise EUR450 million for medical professionals, planned to bolster earnings for those working exclusively in the public sector. The move is aimed at enticing doctors from more profitable personal clinics.
However some unions, consisting of the hardline CGT, refrained from signing the accords, an indication that tensions over the issue may not yet be dealt with.
