But the analysis also shows the epidemic in the UK was more prevalent than in other nations.

Seven of the 15 cities with the greatest rise in death rates are in the UK.

Edward Morgan of the ONS stated the large spread of the infection integrated with the relatively slow down “tail” of the pandemic in the UK were crucial factors that England saw ‘the highest overall relative excess mortality out of all the European nations compared”.

Throughout a check out to North Yorkshire, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was asked if he was ashamed that England had the highest excess death rate in Europe.

He said: “We mourn every loss of life that we’ve had throughout the coronavirus epidemic.”

‘ I live my sister’s death every day’

Karren Fraser-Knight’s twin sibling Paula Greenhough was admitted to Stepping Hill Health Center in Stockport with coronavirus signs in March.

The 55- year-old was put on a ventilator however passed away on 3 April.

” This is not grief, it is injury, it is PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), I live my sibling’s death every day of my life,” Ms Fraser-Knight informed the BBC.

“If they (the federal government) had actually acted right away, thousands of people consisting of Paula Greenhough would not be dead today.

” These individuals should not have actually died and the federal government must accept obligation for not locking down [fast enough], for not closing airports, we should have an inquiry.”

Boris Johnson devoted to an independent questions earlier this month into the coronavirus pandemic.

The prime minister stated that the country owes it to the households of those who died “to continue our operate in driving the virus down”, adding that it had “massive success” in reducing the number of deaths.

The infection was “under some step of control” while “we’re taking a look at a resurgence of the virus in some other European nations” along with in the United States, Mr Johnson stated.

The new analysis contributes to previous studies of excess deaths by taking account of the ages of the population in each country.

At its worst, the death rate in Spain was almost 2.5 times its typical level.

That was even worse than in the UK where the peak variety of deaths was almost 2.1 times its typical level.

But deaths in Spain went back to regular levels much faster, so over the whole year so far, England has actually seen more deaths compared to previous years.
