Coronation Street‘s Mikey North has exposed that substantial changes were made to both recording and stories after the coronavirus pandemic.
The ITV soap was forced to shut down production earlier this year amidst the pandemic, and episodes which had previously been filmed were rationed out at 3 a week as opposed to the usual 6.
In spite of fears that it would lack episodes and therefore go off the air for the 2nd time in history, production had the ability to resume last month— with social distancing and other health and wellness steps on set.
Obviously, the social distancing suggests that the way in which the soap operates has had to be altered to some degree.
Mikey, who represents Gary Windass in the serial drama, informed Metro.co.uk: ‘We are needing to shoot things rather in a different way and there is more video camera trickery to make us look closer than we are.’
What’s more, it wasn’t simply the everyday activities that had to be altered, however likewise certain stories have had to be modified so that they could be shot under the new limitations– and the upcoming stunt is among them.
On this, Mikey stated: ‘In the stunt that you saw there was simply me showing the dummy Sarah sometimes and it’s hard however we’ve done all we can and it’s just fantastic to be back.’
‘ The team are wonderful, and the scripts have been modified in a way we can film it. It changed quite a lot from what we had actually prepared from this sort of week before lockdown however hopefully it has actually not lost any of the impact.’
And– after three months far from set– how does Mikey feel to be back?
He informed us: ‘I have actually enjoyed being back. It’s been so nice to see everybody and be working again.’
‘ We are so fortunate remaining in a soap at the minute and working as no one else is and there are many stars who would enjoy to be working today. We were one of the very first back and for me to get back with such excellent stuff was really nice.’
