Giants fans might get to enjoy Posey’s successor behind the plate with the 33- year-old in your home. Joey Bart, drafted No. 2 general in 2018, is anticipated to complete for a roster spot at catcher. He’s an agreement top-40 prospect however hasn’t yet played above Double-A.
Posey had the worst analytical season of his profession in 2019, setting low marks in average (.257), on-base portion (.320) and punching portion (.368). He may not be a starting catcher much longer. But his presence in the Giants lineup has been and will constantly be an uplifting sign of the group’s achievement in the 2010 s, and it will be odd for the club to contend without him during an abridged 2020 campaign.
With Madison Bumgarner now in Arizona, manager Bruce Bochy retired and most other essential members of the 2014 World Series team gone, it will be another positive and more than likely difficult season ahead.
