Russian President Vladimir Putin states that from Tuesday the nationwide coronavirus lockdown will be eased and organisations will return to work.

He said the country’s “non-working period” enforced to suppress the virus had lasted 6 weeks.

The easing of restrictions will impact all sectors of the economy, Mr Putin said, however some regions may keep tighter controls if required.

Russia now has the third-highest variety of verified infections worldwide.

In the last 24 hours it reported a record daily increase of 11,656 cases, bringing the main overall to 221,344
