COVID-19 Update 3/5/2020
Hello! My name is Neil McDevitt and I’m the Executive Director at the Deaf-Hearing Communication Centre serving the greater Philadelphia region.
This is an upgrade in concerns to COVID-19 in the Philadelphia region. Since March 5, 2020 – there are no confirmed cases in the State of Pennsylvania.
As we discussed in our last video, the most important things you can do to prevent the spread of any health problem or sickness.
1. Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbows, not your hands!
2. Wash your hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. If soap and water aren’t available, use alcohol-based sanitizer.
3. Tidy surfaces like tables, desks, cellular phone, light switches, and countertops frequently.
4. If you’re sick, stay at home! Do not spread out illness to other individuals!
We likewise want to reiterate 2 really essential points from the United States Centers for Illness Control:.
1. Facemasks needs to NOT be worn by people who are healthy. With numerous individuals needlessly purchasing facemarks, it’s making it extremely challenging for people who are truly sick to get them.
2. Asian-Americans and neighborhoods like Chinatown in Philadelphia are NOT at higher risk for COVID-19 Please continue to support your good friends, neighbors, and favorite companies.
We’ll offer updates as we receive them from our partners in emergency management. Once again – As of March 5, 2020 – there are no confirmed cases in the State of Pennsylvania.
Thank you!
