A current Harvard analysis is the first study to show an analytical link between COVID-19 deaths and other diseases connected with long-term direct exposure to fine particle matter.
In an analysis of 3,080 counties in the United States, researchers at the Harvard University T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that greater levels of the small, dangerous particles in air called PM 2.5 were related to higher death rates from the illness.
The paper goes on to suggest that simply a small boost in long-term contamination exposure could have serious coronavirus-related repercussions, even representing other elements like smoking cigarettes rates and population density.
